2014 was quite a year for us – it brought us out for an amazing tour of Colorado, it gave us the opportunity to perform at Merlefest, saw the recording and release of a new album, Southern Trees, and much, much more. We’d like to thank everyone that helped make all of that possible and for the folks who have supported our music & endeavors.
Upon the release of Southern Trees, we played a show here in Asheville at the Isis to an amazing crowd. We were surrounded by great friends – both on stage and in the audience. It was a truly special night…and an emotional one. What we didn’t share with y’all at the time was that we knew it would be our last hometown show for the foreseeable future.
The difficult decision was made by some members to depart from Sully to move on to other musical projects…and that’s what’s been happening since the latter part of 2014. Win & Jay are in the new country-rock group, Junto. Jay has also formed a new progressive bluegrass group called The Greenliners. Matt has been enjoying plugging in and shredding electric guitar – and as of late has been collaborating with good friend and wonderful musician, Cameron Stack. Chum & Dakota formed the new rock trio, Max Gross Weight.
The spirit of Sully is alive – and hopefully someday we’ll return. Thanks to all – and to all a Happy New Year!
